Sanguine In Inclusion...

Inclusion is the area of relationships that has to do with society and superficial relationships.  If you are a Sanguine in Inclusion, you have a need for a great deal of social interaction.  You enjoy the company of others.  You prefer to be with others rather than being alone, and will actively seek out social contact much of the time.

A Sanguine in Inclusion is the life of the party.  They have a real need for the attention of others. Saint Peter was the most Sanguine of the apostles. St. Peter was no doubt a Sanguine. At the site of the transfiguration, he is ready to set up three tents to entertain the guests!  Too bad we could not find a picture of Peter looking more like the Sanguine that he was!

One interesting characteristic of the Sanguine temperament is a tendency to exaggerate.  A good time is remembered as a terrific event.  A modest accomplishment becomes a major victory.

Most Sanguines will not even perceive these exaggerations as untruthful, but rather they tend to believe their own hyperbole.

Strengths of those blessed with this temperament include:

  • Being Friendly and Approachable
  • Inspirational to Others
  • Very Relationship Oriented
  • Genuinely Liking People
  • Perennially Optimistic

Parents of Sanguine In Inclusion children are frequently dismayed. The parents work very hard during the formative years to provide discipline and structure.  As they enter adulthood, these same children will revert to behaviors that the parents thought had been thoroughly dealt with.

The fact is that Sanguines in Inclusion are relatively weak-willed, and easily succumb to temptation.  Sanguines find it nearly impossible to deny themselves.  One of the keys to helping Sanguines overcome their problems is to be sure they know their emotional needs can be met, and that they risk losing their ability to meet those needs unless they correct their behavior. Providing love and affection as a reward for right behavior has been known to help many a Sanguine discipline themselves into appropriate behavior.

To keep a Sanguine healthy and happy, know that they need:

  • To be the center of attention.
  • To be accepted rather than rejected.
  • To have plenty of social interaction.
  • To be employed in a situation that provides plenty of human contact in addition to their tasks.
  • To have plenty of activity. A tired Sanguine is a happy Sanguine.
  • To be praised and honored for their achievements.
  • To be complemented for their work.
  • To receive plenty physical attention, kisses, hugs, etc.

To really understand how the different temperaments work, how they blend, and how they interact, you are invited to experience the course Created In God's Image.

Sanguine In Control

The are of control in relationships has to do with decision making ability, willingness to assume responsibility, and the need for independence.  You are not likely to encounter many people who are Sanguine in Control.  Primarily males, the composed less than two percent of the population.  This difficult area of the temperament is in a way "double-minded."  The problem comes because while one who is Sanguine in Control will want to be in charge, but also want others to be in control.  Typically they will flip-flop from one mode to the other.  This instability can lead to neurotic conditions.President Roosevelt, popular and well loved, was most like a Sanguine

This independent/dependent conflict is unusual, and is discussed much more at length in both of the courses offered! All the other temperaments are stable: Melancholy In Control people are always independent, Choleric in Control individuals are always domineering. A Sanguine in Control, will shift from independence in one situation or time to being highly dependent at another time or place.

When a Sanguine in Control is in the independent mode, they tend to be really independent, making Cholerics look timid. They will be demanding, aggressive, and willing to assume nearly any responsibility or job. Next thing you know, this general becomes a private, dependent and self-indulging.

The Sanguine in Control actually needs a terrific amount of support, praise, and commendation. If things go wrong, or he does not feel sufficiently appreciated, he will sink into a mire of self-pity, drowning in a sea of resentment because they feel

Sanguine In Affection

Sanguine in Affection refers to the need for deep relationships, closeness, love, and affection.

Emotionally available, easy to get to know, open and friendly. Of all the temperament types, the Sanguine is easily the most outgoing, easy to get to know, and lovable.  They will value friendship, love, and close interaction much more than physical possessions. They live to establish deep personal relationships.

A Sanguine in Affection needs an active, caring relationship, where words and acts of love and caring emotion are a daily occurrence.  Holding hands, romantic walks, touching are all a part of the daily needs of those who have this temperament with respect to affection.Former President Reagan was a Sanguine

Regular reassurance is a part of the need of these individuals.  Failure to receive sufficient human interaction at an intimate level can cause all sorts of trouble for these individuals.  These individuals are quick to open up emotionally, and will respond to others willing to do the same.

To keep a Sanguine in Affection truly happy, the need to hear, see and feel loved on a regular, daily basis.   This does not necessarily mean they need sex on a daily basis, but the need for affection, touch, romance, acceptance, approval and love is a unremitting need for the Sanguine in Affection.
